Dear friends and neighbors,
I obtained my nomination papers from the Roseville City Clerk on July 16, 2012 to begin my campaign for re-election to the Roseville City Council. Roseville faces many challenges in the future and needs effective leadership on the council. During my tenure as your Mayor and Councilmember, I listened to the public and made decisions based on what you told me were your most important values. Crime rates have declined, new fire stations built, parks and libraries hours extended and the budget balanced. I appreciate your past support and confidence and am again asking for your help.
Protecting our community’s values and family-friendly quality of life has made Roseville a great place to call home. As a lifelong resident of Roseville, I’m dedicated to preserving Roseville’s “All American” character for today’s residents and for our future generations. During over two decades of community service, I‘ve built a reputation as an independent leader who does her homework and delivers results for the people of our community.
Experiences on the Roseville City Council and Placer County Water Agency along with chairmanship of water and electrical agencies provide me with the experience necessary to lead Roseville through the next several years of difficult economic times. My fiscal conservative approach to government is needed to maintain our sustainability and vitality as a leader in the region.
The future of Roseville and Placer County depends on innovative planning and fiscally responsible management. In light of the large developments now being proposed in West Roseville, the City Council must take a stronger role in protecting our quality of life. Most people, old time or new, came here to escape the poor transportation, air pollution and diminished quality of life from their previous place of residence.
During my State of the City address on October 5, 2011, I spoke about staying healthy. As many of you know, I’ve been a registered nurse for over 40 years. Helping people stay healthy or regain their health has been my life’s calling. I love it.
My other job as your Mayor is all about keeping Roseville healthy.
Financially healthy……. with a balanced budget, smart choices and business friendly environment.
Physically healthy….. making sure the city’s backbone of infrastructure is strong and ready to handle the future.
and just as important…..
Community healthy…….giving our citizens every opportunity to be of healthy mind and body by providing a safe and strong community, enviable parks and bikeway systems, longer hours at our libraries, flexible alternative types of higher education and help for those in need.
The financial and physical keeps us looking good; keeps the machinery running. But I believe it is our strong sense of community, community health, that really makes Roseville, Roseville.
Serving the community is why I’m running for Roseville City Council. For me, you could call it my life’s second calling. I take great pride in keeping up with the pulse of the community. Whether it’s through your phone calls and questions, listening to your comments at public meetings, seeing you at one of our city and neighborhood events, or meeting you for coffee to discuss our community. It’s also personal for me. My entire family lives in Roseville and South Placer County. I want to make sure their children and grandchildren will also feel that Roseville is the best place to call home.
Again I want to thank you for your past support and encouragement. I would be honored to serve as your Councilwoman and I look forward to talking with you soon.
Please take a moment to join my winning campaign team by signing and returning the enclosed volunteer form found on the volunteer page. Again thank you for you support.
